Rossow, William (8 July 1873 - 30 December 1959)

 

William Rossow, 86, died December 30, at the home of his son, Ervin Rossow.

 

He was born in Germany July 8, 1873, and came with his parents, Frederick and Augusta (Schoettler) Rossow from Germany to Greenwood at the age of eight years.  He had resided here ever since.

 

He was married in Loyal June 8, 1899, to Anne Ehlert.  They farmed in the Town of Warner, four and one-half miles northeast of here, on the farm now owned by Matt Gregorich.  He retired 10 years ago and lived with his children after the death of his wife August 27, 1950.

 

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Olaf(Elsie) Ystad of Loyal; and a son, Erwin of Greenwood; a grandson, Milton Ystad of Greenwood; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Otto of Loyal, Charles of Neillsville and Paul of Owen.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from Trinity Lutheran Church.  Rev. H. F. Brauer officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Leonard Gruenke, George Zuehlke, Sr., Wesley Schwarze, Carl and Arthur Turnquist and Ralph Ystad.
