******************************

The following letter, received this week, from Comd’g G.H. Jamerson, now stationed at Cebu Cebu,  P.I. announcing the death of their son, private Andrew Johnson, brought sorrow to the home of Ole Johnson and family of this village.

Company F. 29:h Infantry,

Cebu Cebu, P.I.,

Feb. 24, 1903.

Mr. Ole Johnson,

Dorchester, Wis.

 My Dear Sir:--

It becomes my painful duty to inform you of the death of your son, Andrew Johnson, who died of jaundice in the hospital at this installation on the 23rd inst. Though he had not been well for some two or three weeks and had been in the hospital since the 12th inst., his death came as a shock to all his comrades. His personal effects will be sold at auction and the proceeds deposited with a paymaster of the Army.

Very Respectfully,

G.H. Jamerson

Captain 29.h Infantry.

Comd’g. Co. F.

Andrew is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Johnson and was born in Norway, Aug. 28, 1878. When five years of age he came to the United States and located here with his parents where he grew to manhood. A little over two years ago he went to Chicago where he joined the Army and was sent to the Philippines with Co. F. 29thU.S. Infantry. He leaves besides his parents, a brother, John, of this village, and a sister, Mrs. Parker, of Chicago, to mourn his loss.
