Humke, Arthur Theodore (29 April 1888 - 31 May 1960)

 

Arthur Theodore Humke, 72, a life long resident of Greenwood, died shortly before noon May 31, as a result of a fall from the hay mow Monday afternoon.

 

Mr. Humke was born April 29, 1888, in the Town of Warner.  He was married to Laura Noah on October 2, 1913.  They lived all their married life on a farm four miles northwest of Greenwood.  He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, where he served as deacon and elder.

 

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Bernelda) Liebzeit and Mrs. John (Loriena) Lindner; two sons, Eldore and Elmer, all of Greenwood; three sisters; Mrs. Paul (Helena) Rossman of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Meda Decker and Mrs. William (Alma) Steiger of Greenwood; and two brothers, Theodore Humke and George Humke of Greenwood.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Humke were held Friday afternoon at the Immanuel United Church of Christ.  The Rev. Orval Egbert officiated.  Burial was made in West Side Cemetery.  Pallbearers were: Albert Fravert, Alvin Brick, Theodore Hium, John Zimmer, William Goeke and Hubert Kuehn.
