Rhode, Edward  (23 MAR 1884-09 JULY 1949)

 

Funeral services for Edward C. F. Rhode, 65, who died at his farm home in the town of Eaton at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 9, were held last Wednesday. Brief rites were conducted at 1:30 p.m. at the Rhode home, followed by services in the Trinity Lutheran church here at 2 o’clock. The Rev.J. C. Langholz officiated. The body was interred in the Lutheran cemetery.

 

Mr. Rhode was born at Rubicon on Mar. 23, 1884, and was married to Agnes Wehling in Loyal om June 5, 1912. His wife preceded him in death, passing away on Oct. 11, 1931. He lived on a farm in the town of Loyal from 1902 to 1910, when he purchased a farm in the town of Eaton, which has since been his home. He held directorships in several cooperatives, held town offices, and is a former president of the Trinity Lutheran congregation.

 

Surviving are three children, Gilbert, Velma and Alice, all at home; a sister, Mrs. Ernest (Anna) Meier of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Arthur Rohde of Mellon and Earl Rhode of Devils Lake, N. D.; four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

 

Pallbearers for the funeral were Philip Capelle, John Olsen, Ed Rohloff, Edd Dobbe, Ed Haslow and Walter Pieper, who were members of the church board with the deceased. Mrs. Emil Fabian, Mrs. Herbert Schendel, Mrs. Vivian Carteron, Mrs. Joe Rondorf and Mrs. John Susa Jr., were in charge of the flowers.

 

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Earl Rhode of Devils Lake, N. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nork of Redfield, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Gust Wehling of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Courts and daughter, Gladys, and Mr. and Mrs. Charley Courts of Seymour; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rahn of Neillsville; Parker Hagg of Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Needham and daughter, Janet of Owen; and John Nibbe and Mrs. Bryner of Humbird.

 

The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a beloved relative.
