Neillsville United Church of Christ (Building Fund - 1960)

A drive to raise $65,000 for a new church building will be launched in October by the United Church of Christ of Neillsville.

With $18,200 now in the building fund, and church property valued at $42,500, the committee has decided on the $65,000 goal.

"We will build," said the committee "when we have from one-third to one-half of the estimated $200,000 needed for the proposed church."

The proposed church building would comprise the entire physical plant, including church and Sunday school requirements.

The proposed structure would have a seating capacity of 320, with an additional overflow to accommodate 100 additional.  The church lists a membership of 600, 260 in the Sunday school including the cradle roll department. The proposed structure would accommodate 264 for Sunday school.

The church is free of debt.

Ivan Lauscher, high school principal, is the chairman of a committee to accept memorial gifts.

The location of the new church would be on land recently purchased on the east side of Park Street, and the north side of Second Street.
