Holmes, Marjorie (13 JUN 1952)

When Miss Marjorie Holmes, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. L. H. Holmes, became the bride of Calvin C. Young on Friday evening, her father and her brother, the Rev. Virgil Holmes, Evanston, Ill., officiated.  The candlelight double ring ceremony was performed in the First Methodist Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Young, Milwaukee, are the parents of the groom.

A Chantilly lace bodice designed with long sleeves and a Hounee topped the full satin skirt of the entrained gown worn by the bride when she was presented in marriage by her father.  Her fingertip veil was caught to a headdress of nylon net trimmed with seed pearls and she carried a spray of red and white roses and stephanotis tied with white ribbon.

Miss Ardyce Holmes, Marshfield, a sister of the bride, as maid of honor, wore a yellow net over taffeta rock with satin trimming.  Gauntlets and a flower headdress matched her attire and she carried an assorted pastel colored nosegay.

The two bridesmaids, Miss Marett MacFarlane, Stanley, and Mrs. Vernon Rogstad, Loyal, the latter a sister of the groom, selected green net over taffeta gowns with satin trimmings.  They wore matching gauntlets and carried nosegays of assorted flowers.

Sandra Capes, cousin of the bride, Marshfield, as flower girl, wore a green net over green taffeta costume with pink roses scattered about the skirt.  In her hair she wore a net and flower headpiece and she carried a white basket of assorted flowers.

Terrance Rogstad, Loyal, nephew of the groom, carried the rings on a calla lily.

Ray Cook, Unity, a cousin of the bride, was best man, and Vernon Rogstad and Eugene Blair, Spencer, cousin of the bride, were groomsmen.

Ushering were Duane and Jerrold Meacham, Spencer, cousins of the bride.

Jane Andrews, Spencer, another cousin of the bride, sang "I Promise You" and "God Gave Me You: and Grace Fenner sang "The Lord’s Prayer" during the ceremony.  Organists were Mrs. George Rowley and Miss Donna Gotter.

At the reception, which was held in the church parlors after the ceremony, with about 200 guests in attendance.  Mrs. Fenner sang "Through the Years."  Syrl Andrews, Spencer, another cousin of the bride, sang "I’ll Walk Beside You," accompanied at the piano by Darla Capes, Marshfield, another cousin of the bride.

Seven-tiered wedding cake, baked by Mrs. Russell Andrews, aunt of the bride, centered the table at the reception.

The bride graduated from Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Science degree and taught second grad in Wausau last year.  Next year she will teach first grade in Spencer.

The groom attended school in Loyal and operates a farm south of Loyal where the couple will reside.

When the couple left on their wedding trip in northern Wisconsin and Michigan, the bride donned a blue suit with white accessories.

Guests at the wedding were from Florida, Seattle, Wash., Midway, Pa., Minneapolis, Evanston, Ill., and Augusta, Taylor, Willard, Neillsville, Milwaukee, LaFarge, Greenwood, Unity, Colby, Platteville, Granton, Marshfield, Strum, Black River Falls, New Auburn, Stanley, Spencer and Loyal.
