Kuester, Emma (26 SEP 1886 - 23 OCT 1952)

 

Mrs. Gustave Kuester, 66, died at her home at Pewaukee at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 1952.  The cause of her death was cerebral hemorrhage.

 

Mrs. Kuester, nee Emma Bakerburg, was born at Ft. Ridgeley, Minn., Sept. 26, 1886.  She was married to August Schefus, Oct. 6, 1908, at Fairfax, Minn.  He died Oct. 1, 1910.

 

Oct. 28, 1913, she was married to Gustave Kuester at Fairfax.  A few years later the family came to Clark County and lived for a short time at Riplinger.  They then moved to a farm about 4 miles southwest of Loyal where they lived for many years.  About six years ago they moved to Pewaukee.

 

Mrs. Kuester was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Trinity Ladies Aid.

 

She is survived by her husband, six sons, Herman Schefus, and Alfred, Henry, and Edwin Kuester, Loyal, Harry Kuester, Granton, and Gustave Kuester, Granton, and Gustave Kuester Jr., Pewaukee, and by four daughters, Mrs. James (Leona) May, Lisbon, Ohio; Mrs. Edward (Lillian) Rossow, Loyal; Mrs. Henry (Minnie) Schmidt, Owen; and Miss Florence Kuester, Pewaukee.  One son, William, and one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.  Three brothers survive Mrs. Kuester, henry of Ortonville, Minn., Herman of Wyoming, Minn.; and William of Ft. Snelling.  She is survived by 24 grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. E.E. Aalto officiating.

 

Mrs. Romaine Rossow Sang, "The Old Rugged Cross," "Some Time we’ll Understand," and "Softly and Tenderly," with Jeanne Nysted as organist.

 

Serving as pallbearers were Mike Seidleman, William Seidleman, George Kronberger, Elmer Zimmerman, George Otto, and August Luber.

 

Members of Trinity Ladies Aid attended the services in a body.

 

Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery.
