Dubiak, Frank (21 February 1913 - 7 January 2011) With flag

 

Frank Dubiak, age 97, of Lublin, WI passed away on Friday January 7, 2011, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Stanley.  He was born on February 21, 1913, in Lopez, PA to the late Sam and Eva (Kadelac) Dubiak. The family moved to Lublin soon after and Frank attended area schools.

 

  As a young man he worked in a CCC camp before he moved to Chicago.  Frank served his country in the Army during WWII and was a veteran of the European Theater.  Frank returned to Chicago after the war and continued his employment.  On September 20, 1947, he married Helen Hnatko.  In 1948, he returned and purchased the family farm.  Frank retired in 1978.  He was a faithful member of the Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Lublin, serving as Council president in addition to many other vital jobs, including being the caretaker of the church grounds.  He also was a member of American Legion Post 547, Lublin.

 

Frank’s hobbies included gardening, woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

 

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen; his son, Tom (Paula) Dubiak of Lublin; two daughters: Sharon (Don) Gibbons of Fort Collins, CO and Linda (Dave) Rockin of Mondovi; seven grandchildren: Christine (Kevin) Wright, Dan (Trish) Dubiak, Bryan Dubiak, Nikolai, Donavan and Janelle Gibbons and Mariah Bockin; step-grandchildren: Brad Bockin, Stephanie (Randy) Petersen and Lindsey (Joe) Thowless; his brother, Steve (Ann) Dubiak; and his sisters: Ann Doerfler, Pauline Zaremba, Mary Wasylko and Olga Berg.

 

Frank is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Helen Stanko, Ella Klisch and in infancy, Mae Dubiak; brothers: Peter, George, Harry and Joseph; and his infant twin grandsons, Adam and Jacob Dubiak.

 

A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011, at the Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, Lublin, Father Chris Wojcik officiating.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Gilman Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the Church.
