Harycki, Fern I. (11 APR 1925 - 21 JAN 2011)

 

THORP -- Fern I. Harycki, 85, of Thorp died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church today from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Fern Ione Shoemaker was born April 11, 1925, in the town of Butler, rural Thorp, to Ernest and Ruth (Butler) Shoemaker. In the fall of 1944, Fern was united in marriage to Victor H. Kuehl. They were divorced in 1959. Fern worked at various places in Eau Claire, including Bartosh Cleaners, delivered auto parts for Tingvold Auto Parts, Yard 4 Supper Club and at the Eau Claire paper mill. She was married to Edward S. Harycki of Thorp on Sept. 20, 1969, and resided in Thorp the rest of her life.

Fern is survived by two sons, Ted (Peggy) Kuehl of Fall Creek, Vilas (Nola) Kuehl of Eau Claire; three daughters, Ione (Henry) Niehoff of Stone Lake, Louise Von Haden of Eau Claire and Eda (Ray) Potter of Bruce; three stepsons, Edward (Jean) Harycki of Linthicum Heights, Md., Sylvester (Alice) Harycki and William (Peggy) Harycki, both of Thorp; one stepdaughter, JoAnne (David) Jablonic of Deerwood, Minn.; 19 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren and 19 great-step-grandchildren. She is further survived by six brothers, Bill (Jean) Shoemaker of Waunakee, Leo (Charlotte) Shoemaker of Dover, Tenn., Wayne (Sharon) Shoemaker of Eau Claire, Dareld Shoemaker of Altoona, Ervin Shoemaker of North Branch, Minn., and Albert (Bonnie) Shoemaker of Hixton; four sisters, Lucille (Louis) Weaver of Lakeside, Ariz., Darlene Mayes of Fremont, Calif., Norma Timm of Augusta and Virginia Scott of Kenosha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1995.
