Rous, Clement R. (19 February 1877 - 30 June 1954)

 

Clement R. Rous, 77, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Seefeldt, Spencer, at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 30.  Death was caused by a heart attack following several years of ill health.

 

Mr. Rous was born Feb. 19, 1877, in Adams County.  He received his education in Monroe Center.  He was married to Viola Lucy Robinson at Coloma, in April 1908.  Two years after their marriage the Rouses came to a farm, 2 ½ miles southeast of Loyal and lived there until 1938, when they came to live in the city. Six years ago they moved to Arkdale.  He served as treasurer and assessor while living in the Town of Loyal.

 

Mr. Rous is survived by his wife; a son, Robert M. Rous of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. William (Ada) Demuth, Loyal, and Mrs. Paul (Frances) Seefeldt, Spencer; three brothers, Charles Rous, Hancock, Harry (B. H.) Rous and Nye Rouse, Arkdale; three sisters, Mrs. Winnifred Hamilton, Hancock, Mrs. Charles (Edna) Russell, Tomahawk, and Mrs. J. Martin, Rock Island, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren. 

 

A son died in infancy and one brother also preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. W. M. Mecklenburg officiating.  Full Masonic rites were held at the graveside. Mr. Rouse was a charter member of the Masonic Lodge of Loyal.

 

Pallbearers were: O. W. Trindal, Hal Voight, Gilbert Kruger, Henry Rottjer, Edgar Vick, and M. G. Hales.

Olsen and Mrs. Oestram, Arkdale; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence White and Mrs. Alma Ransom, Big Flats; Mr. and Mrs. Frank O’Toole, Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Rous and Mrs. Milton Rous, Hancock; Mrs. Jay Martin, Rock Island, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hadoc, Chicago; Mrs. Maybelle Kelly, son Loren and daughter, Georgia, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Robinson, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Follett, and Mrs. Charles Rous, Coloma; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Russell, Bradley; Leon McFarland and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rous, Friendship; and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Thurber and Mrs. Ferd Kraul, Wisconsin Rapids.
