Gregory, Sharon Lynn (Marriage - 2 June 1954)

Now at home in Rome, N. Y. are Mr. and Mrs. Gerald John Durst who were married at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Wednesday morning, June 2, 1954.

The double-ring ceremony, with the Rev. Norbert King officiating, preceded the Nuptial High Mass.  During the services the bride presented a bouquet of white carnations to the Blessed Virgin.

The bride, the former Miss Sharon Lynn Gregory, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Gregory, Route 2 Granton, and Mr. and Mrs. Gregor Durst, Jr., Marshfield are the groom’s parents.

The bridal gown was nylon tulle over satin, with full flowing train.  The bodice of French lace featured long French lace sleeves and cascades of ruffled pleating. The bride carried an arrangement of yellow roses, lilies, and stephanotis. A tiara held her finger-tip veil of sheer imported illusion net.

Mrs. Thomas Froeba, Loyal, was her sister’s matron of honor.  Her four bridesmaids were sisters of the groom: Mrs. Mike Baumer, Mrs. Val Millich, Mrs. Clyde Blum, and Mrs. Ray LaPointe, all of Marshfield.

The five bridal aides wore identical nylon tulle formal gowns, accented with Venice motifs, while huge cascades designed the bouffant skirts. Cover-up jackets topped the fitted bodices of the strapless gowns. They wore headpieces of rolled edge petals of net with floral trim.

They carried colonial bouquets of white carnations, centered with flowers of colors contrasting their gowns and tied with ribbons of colors matching their gowns.

Wearing white ruffled net over satin, little Ina Louise Perrin of Yorkville, Ill., performed the role of flower girl, for her cousin.  Bobby Bero of Elgin, Ill., another cousin of the bride, was the ringbearer.

The groom chose for his best man, Arthur Gregory, only brother of the bride.  Husbands of three of the bridesmaids, Mr. Baumer, Mr. Millich, and Mr. Blum., and the husband of the matron of honor, Mr. Froeba, served as groomsmen.  Ushers were Ronald Kohlbeck of Forbes Air Base, Kansas, a cousin of the groom, and Jack Goodman, Stetsonville, a cousin of the bride.

For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Gregory chose a dress of navy blue lade with pink accessories.  Mrs. Durst, the groom’s mother, wore navy blue acetate nylon with white accessories. Both mothers wore corsages of pink carnations.

Following the ceremony, dinner was served in the church basement at Loyal to 75 guests, and a reception took place at the home of the bride’s parents at Granton.

The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School and the groom is a graduate of the Marshfield High School.  He is in the air force and stationed at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, N. Y.  Their extended wedding trip was made via Niagara Falls.

A wedding dance was given at the Country Ballroom with music by Ertz and Sturtz.

Out of town relatives of the bride who attended the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. John Bero and sons, Elgin, Ill.; Mrs. Lester Marvin, Mishawaka, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Olsen and children, Mrs. Arthur Gregory, Mr. and Mrs. John Goodman, Stetsonville; and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Perrin, Yorkville, Ill.  Among the groom’s relatives were: Mr. and Mrs. Len Zenner, Milwaukee; Gregor Durst Sr., Two Rivers; and Ronnie Kohlbeck, Kansas.

Guests also came from Marshfield, Loyal, Granton, Owen, Willard, Hewitt, Withee, and Neillsville.
