Fults, Walter M. (7 FEB 1880 - 18 AUG 1961)

 

Funeral services for Walter Marion Fults, 81, who died Friday, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the First Presbyterian Church at Abbotsford with the Rev. L. F. Faivre officiating.  Mrs. Faivre was the organist and accompanist for Miss Joan Pautz, who sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "The Old Rugged Cross" during the services.

 

Six grandsons served as pallbearers for the burial, which was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.  They were Douglas and James Fults Jr., Kenneth A. and Robert Anderson and Bill Geary and Gordon Knight.

 

The flowers were carried by six granddaughters and Mrs. Alfred Scheel and Miss Jackie Scheel.  The granddaughters are Miss Betty Anderson, Mrs. Kenneth A. Anderson, Mrs. Bob Anderson, Mrs. James Fults Jr., Mrs. Bill Geary and Mrs. Gordon Knight.

 

Mr. Fults was born Feb. 7, 1880, in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and received his education in Thorp schools.  On June 14, 1905 he and Myrtle Heagle were united in marriage.  They farmed in the Thorp area until 1927, when they came to Abbotsford and Mr. Fults operated the Abbotsford Oil Co. until his retirement in 1948.

 

He served the village as a trustee and was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

 

Surviving him are his widow, two sons, James of Stanley and Arthur of Colby.  There are eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by daughter, Mildred, and son, Edwin, and two brothers, Richard of Eugene, Ore., and Edwin of Springfield, Ill.

 

Relatives and friends from away attending the funeral were from Des Moines, Ia., Ortonville, buffalo and Minneapolis, Minn., Thorp, Onalaska, Stetsonville, Oxford, Superior, Chippewa Falls, Stanley and Colby.

 

Mr. Fults suffered a heart attack Thursday and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where death occurred at 4:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 1961.
