Leu, Lorna Margaret (Marriage - 7 August 1954)

Now enroute to St. George Island, in Bermuda are the former Miss Lorna Margaret Leu of Marshfield and James Richard Davel of Loyal, having spent two days at Wisconsin Dells following their exchange of wedding vows at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, at ten o’clock Saturday morning, Aug. 7.

The Rev. Walter Dillingburg officiated at the Nuptial High Mass. The children’s’ choir provided the music with Sister M. Georgia, S. S. N. D., nuptial organist and director.

Parents of the young couple are Mr. and Mrs. Earle Lewis Leu of Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Davel of Loyal.

For her wedding the bride chose a ballerina length dress of white Italian silk fashioned in empire style. The scalloped neckline and sleeves were hand embroidered with sprays of Lily of the Valley set with pearl dew drops, and similar sprays cascaded down the font and side panels of the skirt.  Velvet rose leaves and pearl dew drops composed the Juliet caps which caught the elbow length veil of silk illusions.  Her bouquet of Lily of the Valley centered with a white orchid was carried on a satin covered prayer-book.  Elbow mitts of white silk completed the bridal attire.

Miss Carole Bertz of Loyal was maid of honor and Miss Ruth Fisher, Avon, Minn., and Miss Mary Ellen Kenny, Tomah, were bridesmaids, Junior bridesmaids were Juliann Davel, sister of the groom, and Luella Leu sister of the bride.  The bridal attendants were costumed in ballerina length gowns similar to that of the bride.  Their gowns were of crystal blue antique shantung. Their picture hats of Swiss braid were in matching shade of blue.  White with yellow centered clusters of daisies and narrow velvet ribbon encircled the open crowns. Completing their costumes were mitts of blue net and arm cascades of white daisies and podocarpus.

The groom chose his brother, Ronald Davel, of Milwaukee for his bestman.  Robert and James Leu, brothers of the bride, were groomsmen. Ervin Steiger and Howard Sturtz of Neillsville seated the guests.

Brunch was served at our Lady of Peace dining hall for members of the immediate families, following the wedding ceremony.  In the (balance of the article was missing from my copy).
