Loyal, Wisconsin Free Methodist New Pastor (Rev. John R. Putt –1954)

The Rev. John R. Putt arrived in Loyal early this week with his wife and two children to make their home in the Free Methodist parsonage following his appointment to the local church.

Rev. Putt is replacing Ref. O. L. Schantz, who left last Saturday to enter the state college at Platteville where he plans to take a course in industrial arts.  This is in preparation to teaching at some Free Methodist college.

The first connection Rev. Putt had with the Free Methodist Church came while at Lewistown, Illinois, where he felt the call of the ministry and went to Wessington Springs, South Dakota, where he spent three years in preparatory work.

During this time he served in itinerate pastoral work also traveling 12,000 miles with a male quartet.  He is not a complete stranger to Loyal because this very same quartet presented a sacred concert in the local Free Methodist Church in April 1951.

Rev. Putt served in the U. S. Navy for three years and with his itinerate work from Wessington Springs, and three yeas as a full time pastor at Oshkosh, he has a varied background of experience.

He has stated that he is happy to be in Loyal and already feels very much at home.
