Duncan, Delores (Marriage - 2 October 1954)

 

The English Salem Lutheran Church, Minneapolis was the setting on Saturday, October 2 for the wedding of Miss Delores Duncan, Minneapolis, and Lloyd Zimmerman, Loyal.

 

The brides parents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Duncan, Browerville, Minnesota, and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Zimmerman, Loyal.

 

The Rev. Wetler officiated at the 2 o’clock ceremony, and Harvin Christine of Minneapolis sang "Because" an "The Lord’s Prayer" accompanied by the church organist.

 

The church altar was decorated with candle lights, baskets of yellow chrysanthemums and white gladiolas, carnations, ferns, and palms.

 

The bride was given in marriage by her father.  She wore a gown of heavy satin, which was styled with a square, gathered neckline, fitted bodice, long tapering sleeves that were puffed and gathered at the shoulders. A hoop skirt and long train completed her dress.  Her net fingertip veil was caught to a crown of seed pearls.  For her jewelry she chose pearl earrings and necklace. She carried a white orchid with her white Bible to which white satin streamers and stephanotis were attached.

 

Mrs. Anton Loppnow, Minneapolis, friend of the couple was maid of honor. She wore a red velvet and net ballerina dress.  The strapless fitted bodice was velvet with a bolero jacket. The full skirt was made up of tiers of velvet and net over satin.  Her hat and shoes matched her dress.

 

Mrs. Arnold Hess, Minneapolis, another friend of the couple was bridesmaid and was dressed the same as the maid of honor. They both carried colonial bouquets of yellow and white roses, and wore rhinestone earrings and necklaces, gifts from the bride.

 

The groom’s attendants were Franklin Zimmerman, Greenwood, as bestman and Rueben Zimmerman of Loyal, brothers of the groom.  Ushering was Willard Stuvetraa, Loyal a friend of the couple.

 

The bride’s mother wore a black dress, black accessories and the groom’s mother wore a navy blue dress and black Accessories. Both wore corsages of yellow roses and bachelor buttons.

 

After the ceremony a luncheon was held in the church hall.  The table was centered with a three-tier wedding cake and decorated with candles and American Beauty Roses.

 

The bride attended school in Minnesota and was employed in office work at Minneapolis. The groom is a graduate of Loyal high School and is employed in Loyal.

 

When they left on their honeymoon to Minnesota and Wisconsin the bride wore a black suit dress, black Accessories and her corsage was a white orchid.  When they return they will make their home in Loyal.

 

Those from out of town who attended the wedding were: Mrs. Joseph Stock, Letcher, South Dakota; Alex Stock, Bemidji, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Seeman, Spring Valley, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Duncan, Gary and Billy, Browerville, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Zimmerman, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Zimmerman; Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Zimmerman; Willard Stuvetraa of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bruvald and many other friends and relatives from the vicinity of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
