Herrmann, Hermina #2 (13 DEC 1882 - 26 MAR 1962)

Funeral services for Mrs. Herman Herrmann, 79, of Colby, who died Monday, will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the First United Church of Christ at Colby with the Rev. Carl Serr officiating.  Burial will be made in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Herrmann had been ill with leukemia for almost three years and died at her home at 3:15 a.m. Monday.

Hermina Leichtnam was born Dec. 13, 1882, in the town of Mayville (Clark Co., Wis.).  She was married on May 11, 1904, to William Herrmann in Colby.  They lived there for nine years and then moved to a farm in the town of Mayville, which is now operated by her son, Alphonse.

In 1939, Mrs. Herrmann died, and Mrs. Herrmann moved to Colby.

While her health permitted, she was an active worker in her church and the Ladies’ Aid, and was a member of the church choir.  She was also a former member of the Colby Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.  She currently held leadership in the Abbotsford chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving her are four sons, Harold and Eugene, Milwaukee; Alphonse, Curtiss; and Ronald, Columbus, Wis.; and one daughter, Miss Bernita Herrmann, Chicago.  There are six grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Edward and Albert Leichtnam of Abbotsford.

Six sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
