Kiefer, John A. (26 JUN 1891 - 10 APR 1962)

 

John A. Kiefer, 71 years old, died unexpectedly at his home in Abbotsford Tuesday morning, about 11 o’clock.  The body will lie in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, starting Thursday evening.  A general rosary service will be held Friday evening at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church after the Lenten service.

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at St. Bernard’s Church at 11 o’clock, after which burial will be made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

 

John A. Kiefer was born June 26, 1891 in Hullsburg, Dodge county.  He was educated in the area schools and on Sept. 10, 1912, he and Miss Otillia Steger were united in marriage at Theresa.  They operated a farm in the vicinity of Hullsburg until 1918 when they came to the town of Holton and farmed there until about 10 years ago when they retired and the farm was taken over by their son, Raymond.

 

While residing on the farm, Mr. Kiefer served as a member of the Rosedale School Board for a number of years.

 

Surviving him are his widow and three sons: Gilbert Kiefer, Menomonee Falls; Aaron Kiefer, Ft. Atkinson; and Raymond Kiefer, Abbotsford.  There are 14 grandchildren.

 

He also leaves two sisters: Mrs. Mary Scharf of Hartford and Mrs. Charles (Rose) McLaughlin of Menomonee Falls.

 

One sister, Mrs. Alfred (Lena) Bauer of Michigan, preceded him in death.
