Sturdevant, Jessie (24 February 1877 - 3 March 1961)

 

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for Mrs. Jessie Sturdevant, 84, of Neillsville, who died Friday in Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Frank B. Harcey of the United Church of Christ, officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Sturdevant was the daughter of the late James and Ruane (Allison) Flynn, and was born February 24, 1877, in Afton.  She was married June 19, 1901, to the late Claude Sturdevant, a practicing attorney in Neillsville for many years and who was chairman of the Clark County Board of Supervisors for several terms.

 

She was a member of Diamond Rebekah Lodge, No. 64, and of the Women of the Moose.

 

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. G. C. Youmans, and a brother, Arthur F. Flynn, both of Neillsville.

 

Pallbearers were: Newton Toptine, Fred Stelloh, Alfred Kleckner, Bob Wagner, J. A. Zimmerman and Herbert M. Smith. 

 

"An Evening Prayer" and "Nearer my God to thee" were sung by Dr. Sarah Rosekrans, accompanied by Mrs. Jess Scott.

 

Out of town people here for the services included Miss Rita Youmans of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Flynn, Mrs. Hartley Skeels and Mrs. Ronald Buckli, all of Eau Claire; C. F. Balch of Milwaukee; and Robert Balch of Appleton.
