Sage, James P. (11 May 1893 - 26 March 1961)

 

Funeral services are being conducted this (Thursday) afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for James P. Sage, 67, Rt. 2, Neillsville, who died Sunday at his home. The Rev. Frank B. Harcey of the United Church will officiate.  Burial will be made in the cemetery at Augusta.

 

Mr. Sage was born May 11, 1893, in Augusta, where he received his education.  On May 31, 1916, he was married to the former Ethel Tallman in Whitehall.  He was employed by the Northwestern Railway for 44 years, retiring in 1958.  He came to Neillsville in 1943 and served as depot agent until his retirement.

 

Surviving are his wife, and the following children: Gilbert, Norman, Willis and Orval, all of Neillsville; Donald, New York City, N. Y.; Mrs. L. C. (Marion) Wallace, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Edward (Esther) Roeder, Milwaukee; and Charles, Slinger; other survivors are four sisters: Mrs. Wealthy Staats, Mrs. Ernest (Charlotte) Roach, Mrs. Charles (Dolly) Staats, all of Augusta, and Mrs. Henry (Mabel) Ruether, Richland Center; and a half-brother, Charles Sage of California.  Twenty one grandchildren also survive.

 

Mr. Sage was a member of the Brotherhood of American Railroad employees.

Funeral services for James P. Sage, 67, Neillsville, were held last Thursday from the Georgas Funeral Home.  The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated and burial was made in the Augusta Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Henry Hubing, Claude Westphal, Jack Counsell, Robert Prochazka, Jess Collins and Heron Van Gorden.

Wallace and family, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Edward Roeder, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Roach and Judy, Milwaukee; Mrs. Charlotte Roach, Neenah; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reuter, Richland Center; Mrs. Fred L. Penn and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Smith, Fond du Lac; Alvin Anderson, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Staats and Barbara Staats, Gilman; Ronald, and Mrs. Dollie Staats, all of Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Volkman, Altoona.
