Ure, Ray (8 February 1889 - 12 May 1961)

 

Ray Ure, a former Fremont resident, died at his home in Pittsville, May 12, after a lingering illness.

 

Mr. Ure was born in the Town of Lynn February 8, 1889.  He attended school at Lynn.

 

He was married to Lydia Krause February 1, 1914, at Neillsville, and they lived on a farm in the Town of Fremont for 22 years.  They purchased their present home in Pittsville, where they have lived for the last 25 years.

 

He spent most of his active years running a threshing machine and doing custom lumber sawing.

 

He was a member of the village board of Pittsville for several years, and also belonged to the National Guard at Neillsville.

 

Funeral services were held from a funeral home in Marshfield May 14.  Burial was made at the Mound Cemetery, Pittsville.

 

Mr. Ure is survived by his widow, a son, Ralph of Chicago; a granddaughter; and the following brothers and sisters: Ed Ure, Junction City; Robert Ure, Lynn; Mrs. Wilbur (Gladys) Clare, Elroy; and Mrs. Ed (Marian) Lindow of Chili.

 

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ure, a sister, Mrs. Col. (Mamie) Larson, and a brother, John Ure, preceded him in death.

 

Rev. W. Sherman of the Congregational Church at Pittsville officiated at the service.  Pallbearers were: Robert Capling, Jack Laughlin, Art Engelman, Glen Knutson, E. C. Will and Henry Huser all of Pittsville.
