Quicker, James G. (27 March 1878 - 20 August 1961)


Funeral services for James G. Quicker, 83, a former member of the Clark County Board of Supervisors from Lynn and Granton, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant.  The Rev. Evan Dieck will be in charge and burial will be made in the Town of Lynn Cemetery.


Mr. Quicker died Sunday evening at his home in the village of Granton.


In addition to serving on the County Board of Supervisors for several years, Mr. Quicker also served as assessor in the Town of Lynn for many years.


He was born March 27, 1878, in Germany, and came to the United States when he was 15 years old.


He was married to Louise Steinbach, who died in 1957. The Quickers farmed in the Town of Lynn until 1945, when they retired and moved into Granton.


Surviving are four sons and four daughters: Albert of El Cajon, Cal.; Roland and Rhinart of Granton; and Hubert of Neillsville; Mrs. John (Hilda) Barth of Chili; Mrs. Melvin (Leah) Schafer of Granton; Mrs. Mervin (Esther) Voight of San Diego, Cal.; and Mrs. Lavern (Irene) Vanderwyst of Granton.  Twenty-six grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren also survive.


He was preceded in death by a daughter and several brothers and sisters in Germany.


Funeral arrangements were made by the Gilbertson Funeral Home.
