Shaffer, John F. (1868 - 1961)
John F. Shaffer, 93, a resident of the Owen Havenet Nursing Home, died of old age complications this week.
Born January 3, 1868, at Newton, Ia., he came to Clark County in 1911, and settled on a farm in the Town of Green Grove. He farmed all his life until retirement.
He was married on April 4, 1900, to Ida Lee Ross, of Rock Island, I ll. She died in 1940.
He was buried in Riverside Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ralph Claybaugh of the Owen Congregational Church, September 10.
He is survived by a son, Edward, of Finland, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Hester Welker of Owen; and by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
