Stabnow, Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Golden - 17 October 1961)

Relatives gathered Sunday to honor Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stabnow of Neillsville in celebration of their 50th anniversary, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Catherine Lindner in Greenwood.

Dinner guests included the three children of the honored couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ted (Imogene) Ampe and children, Teddy, Theresa and Patrick, of Neillsville; Walter Stabnow and wife of St. Paul, Minn., and Larry Stabnow and wife and son, Michael of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Others present were: Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wagner of St. Nazianz; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Wagner of Sheboygan; Mrs. Alice Stiefvater of Manitowoc and Mr. and Mrs. James Syth of Jim Falls.

Those who called on them in the afternoon were: Harold Stabnow, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Opdycke and Mr. and Mrs. John Meng, all of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hughes and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Merkel and family, all of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Lindner and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Linder and son, Tommy, all of Loyal; and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stewart and family.

Walter Stabnow and the former Theresa Gries were married October 17, 1911, in St. Mary’s rectory in Greenwood. They resided here until about 20 years ago, when they moved to Neillsville.

Due to the assignment of their son, Larry, to the coast guard at Ketchikan, Alaska, the celebration of his parents was held before he and his family are enroute there.

Mr. and Mrs. Stabnow received many gifts and congratulatory messages.
