Abraham Mattson, a resident of this community for 38 years, passed away Aug. 5th, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a surgical patient for three weeks and was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Friday, August 8th.

 

Funeral services were conducted from Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home with the Rev. John Saarinen, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, officiating.  Pallbearers were Robert Mattson, Frank Karye, William Mattson, Carl Hill, Jerry Mundt and William Mundt.  In charge of the floral offerings were Mrs. Eldred Havelin, Mrs. Dan Arola, Mrs. Carl Hill and Mrs. Frank Karye.

 

Abraham Mattson attained the age of 86 years, being born June 26, 1872 in Finland.  He came to this country as a young man, and on June 30, 1896, was united in marriage in a ceremony performed at Virginia, Minn.  His wife preceded him in death, passing away in October of 1955.  He and his family came to this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) in 1920, settling on a farm south of the city where he had farmed successfully until his retirement several years ago.

 

Mourning his passing are two sons, Vern of Chicago and William of Owen, and six daughters, Mrs. Carl (Elsie) Tavlvio, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Neal (Alvina) Laine, Owen; Mrs. William (Martha) Mundt, Butler; Mrs. Matt (Vian) Bombach, Owen; Mrs. Emil (Jennie) Havelin, Loyal, and Mrs. Richard (Thelma) Upjohn, Rib Lake; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
