On Wednesday, March 15, Mr. Wm. C. Allen, former treasurer of Clark County, was arrested in the village of Neillsville on a charge of embezzling twenty thousand dollars belonging to the county of Clark. Mr. Allen appeared before Judge Bunn and gave bail for his appearance at the next term of Court. Mr. Allen was County Treasurer of Clark County for about three years, and, it is claimed that when he turned his office over to his successor he failed to turn over all the money in his hands. Mr. Allen denies this, and the Court will have to decide it.
