Gerber, Bertha J.(24 December 1868 - 24 January 1962)

 

Mrs. Bertha J. Gerber, 93, died Wednesday at the Bethel Convalescent Home in Arpin, where she had resided for the last seven months.  Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. The Rev. L. E. Schreiber officiated.  Burial was made in the Windfall Cemetery. The Gilbertson Funeral Home of Granton was in charge of the services.

 

Mrs. Gerber, the former Bertha Reichert, was born December 24, 1868, in Calumet County.  She came with her parents as a young child to the Town of Grant, and attended Mapleworks School.

 

On May 12, 1897, she was married to the former Fred Gerber in the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. They engaged in farming until 1941, when Mr. Gerber died.  Since that time she made her home with members of her family.

 

Surviving are two sons, Alfred of Neillsville and Leland of Marshfield; three daughters, Mrs. Ed (Lobelia) Deering and Mrs. Wilbur (Natalie) Schlinsog, both of Marshfield; and Mrs. George (Rocelia) Krause, Neillsville. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Alvin Reichert of Racine, and Louis Reichert of Wausau.
