Cornelius, Charles (12 Feb 1914)

Last Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cornelius entertained a party of ladies and gentlemen at their home on Clay Street.  At 5:00 Mrs. H.C. Clark won a beautiful lunch cloth and Charles Decker a fine folding cup.  An especially dainty luncheon was served and the guests were then favored with a few piano selections by Miss Cornelius.  The affair was most pleasing to the guests, for the Cornelius home is an ideal place for such events and Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius equally efficient as host and hostess.

Monday night Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius and Miss Leta Cornelius entertained about 150 guests at a dancing party at the armory.  The hall was beautifully decorated for this occasion in a striking manner.  A large centerpiece of butterflies was hung from the center light and radiating from this were streamers of green and white.  The galleries were festooned with strands of lights and above the stage a large white butterfly was suspended.  Splendid music was furnished by the Neillsville orchestra and it was enjoyed by the dancers until 2 o’clock.  A course luncheon was served at small tables in the galleries and punch was served near the reception room.  The party was an especially pretty one and generally conceded as one of the most enjoyable events ever given in this city.
