NEILLSVILLE -- Richard "Dick" James Shaw, 69, of Neillsville, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at his farm as the result of a farming accident.

Richard "Dick" Shaw was born Dec. 21, 1941, the son of Francis and Leona (Kuborn) Shaw in Yankton, S.D. After his mother's death in 1942, his father married Margaret (nee Koupal) Shaw. He was educated at Tabor Public Schools. The family moved to Wisconsin in 1958 where Richard met and married the love of his life, Bonnie (nee Lemons) Shaw, on Aug. 17, 1961.

He worked several farming jobs, including Mullins Cheese, Granton; Neillsville Milk Products and Bob Shaw Heating & Cooling, Neillsville, until he purchased a farm of his own in 1971. He and Bonnie farmed side-by-side until he retired from dairy farming in 2002. They were currently doing custom heifer raising on the home farm, and he was employed with Mid-State Truck, Marshfield.

He was a devoted husband to Bonnie, his wife of 49 years; was a great dad, and a fun, lovable grandpa. He loved his family, the outdoors and country life. He was an avid hunter; enjoyed watching sports games and Nascar, and liked playing a good game of dirty clubs, sheepshead or uecker.

Richard was a member of the United Church of Christ and he served as supervisor for the town of Weston for several years.
