Hanley, Karrin K. (18 JUL 1959)

Miss Karrin Kay Hanley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hanley, Stanley, became the bride of Joseph Nyes, son of Mrs. Irene Nayes, Boyd, on Saturday, July 18, 1959.  The Rev. Georges Mathieu read the double ring ceremony at 10:00 o’clock in the morning before an altar which was decorated with bouquets of seasonal flowers.  The church furnished the traditional music.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in Schifli embroidered tulle over net and satin gown in chapel length.  The bodice featured a Sabrina neckline and short sleeves.  Alternate tiers of embroidered tulle and net cascaded down the back of the gown.  A pearl and sequin trimmed coronation crown held her importe silk illusion veil in place and she carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations.

Miss Mary Lou Tryboski, a friend of the bride, was maid of honor.  She wore a white flocked nylon sheer over pastel Nile green taffeta styled in floor length.  The bodice featured a semi-scoop neckline and wide crushed cummerbund with a large bow in the back and streamers falling over the bouffant skirt which was detailed with tiers of ruffles.  Imported Swiss braid fashioned the pill box matching hat with circular veil.  She carried a cross shaped bouquet of green carnations.

The bridesmaids were Mrs. Bernadette Eslinger, a friend, in pink, and Miss Lucille Nayes, sister of the groom, in pink.  Their gowns were styled identically as the one worn by the maid of honor, and they wore matching hats.  Their bouquets matched their gowns.  The junior bridesmaid was Jane Hanley, sister of the bride, who was attired in a Nile green gown similar to the one worn by Miss Tryboski.  Each aide wore pearl necklaces, gifts of the bride.

Eugene Gustafson, friend of the groom, was the best man.  Harlyn Eslinger and Francis Nayes were the groomsmen.  Ushering the guests to their seats were Dennis Miller and Duane Miller, cousins of the bride, Kenneth Nayes, brother of the groom, and Dick Ruff, friend of the groom.

Serving as ring bearer was Mark Miller, five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller of rural Withee.  He wore black trousers and white dinner jacket.

A reception for 250 guests was held in the afternoon at St. Mary’s School hall.

A dinner was served at 12 o’clock at the same place, with about 100 guests attending.  Streamers of yellow, pink, green and white, and wedding bells decorated the hall for the occasion.  Mrs. Lawrence McKale and Mrs. Don Schelvan poured.  Mrs. Schelvan is an aunt of the bride’s and resides in Milwaukee.

The bride’s mother witnessed the ceremony wearing a anvy blue sheer over satin with pink accessories.  Mrs. Nayes was attired in a pink Dacron with white accessories.  Each had a corsage of pink rosebuds to complement her costume.

As the couple left on their wedding trip of two weeks, the bride wore a blue polished cotton dress with white accessories.  They will be at home to their friends after August 1st in Boyd, where the groom is employed as a mechanic in the Ford garage.  The bride attended Stanley High School.

Pre-nuptial events included a shower given by Miss Mary Lou Tryboski at the Tryboski home, one given at Withee for relatives, and another given for friends and relatives at Rainbow Gardens.

There were guests at the wedding from Milwaukee, Michigan, Rhinelander, Medford, Minneapolis, Minn., Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Owen, Withee and Loyal.
