Parker, Virginia Lee (13 AUG 1960)

The Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, was the setting August 13, 1960 for the marriage of Miss Virginia Lee Parker to Mr. Gerald Thomas Miller.  Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker, city, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank T. Miller, Elroy, Wis.  Father H.L. Crubel officiated at the nuptials.

Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of embroidered crystalette having a Sabrina neckline and long sleeves.  A miniature crown held the bride’s fingertip veil of silk illusion.  She carried a bouquet of pink roses and white carnations to complete her outfit.

The bride’s sister, Miss Patricia Parker, was maid of honor and the groom’s sister, Miss Mary Rose Miller, served as bridesmaid.  They wore ballerina length gowns of embroidered nylon with Sabrina necklines and short sleeves of mint green and white and pink and white respectively.  They carried dainty baskets of yellow and white daisies and pink and white daisies.

The men wore white dinner jackets and black trousers, and pink rose boutonnieres with the groom being attended by William Moran of Elroy as best man, and groomsman George Bakke of Withee.

Clarence Bares of Elroy and Don Miller of Milwaukee served the couple as ushers.

Following the 9:30 a.m. ceremony a dinner was served at noon at the American Legion Hall Owen, followed by a reception from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The bride is a graduate of Owen High School and previous to her marriage was employed by the Employers Mutual Insurance Co. at Wausau.  Mr. Miller is graduate of the Elroy school system and Wis. State College at La Crosse.  For the past four years he has been a resident of Owen, serving on the Owen-Withee High School faculty.

The couple has now established a residence in the E.W. Sutter apartments.
