Roller, Marvin (7 FEB 1935 - 30 SEP 1960)

Marvin Dale Roller, 25, son of former Owen residents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Roller, Two Rivers, Wis., was honored with military rites at Riverside Cemetery Monday afternoon when relatives and friends paid him their final respects.

He succumbed to an illness of a year and one-half duration, having suffered from a chronic kidney ailment, at the Veterans Hospital at Wood, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 30th, 1960.

The Rev. James Stone, pastor of the Alliance Church, Owen, officiated at the final rites conducted at 2:00 o’clock.  Serving as pallbearers were Fritz Duprey, John Zielke, Aaron Anderson, Myron Anderson, Lester Jackson and Kenneth Strohkirch.

Carrying the floral offerings were Mrs. Aaron Anderson, Withee, Carol Zielke, Two Rivers, and Mrs. George Kype and Mrs. Charles Pyke, Pittsville.

Born Feb. 7, 1935, at Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), Marvin received his education attending the Owen school system.  After his graduation he entered the Air Force on Feb. 20, 1953, receiving his basic training at Lackland Air base, San Antonio, Texas.

In September of the same year he and Helen Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Anderson, city, were united in marriage.  After a brief honeymoon he left for overseas duty in England on October 7 and returned to the states two after, on May 12, 1955.  Being joined by his wife they made their home for the next year at Prattville, Ala., where he was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base.  On Sept. 1, 1956 he received his discharge from the service.

The couple then moved to Two Rivers where he was employed by the Two Rivers Transit Co. and for the past two years by Boeheringer Oil and Fuel Co.

Mourning Marvin’s youthful and untimely death are his wife, a son, Keith Wayne, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Roller, a sister, Mrs. Leon (Sandra) Reach, and a brother, Edward, all of Two Rivers.
