Finnegan, Robert "Bob" #2 (7 JUN 1915 - 26 MAY 1941)

Robert Francis Finnegan, son of William and Theo (Horel) Finnegan, was born at Lewiston, Calif., June 7, 1915, and came with his parents to Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1920.  His father died May 7th, 1921.

"Bob", as he became known to all his friends, grew to young manhood in our village.  He attended the local schools and graduated from high school with the class of 1933.  Soon after graduation he left for St. Paul where he had employment, and in May 1936 he located in Oakland, Calif.  He was employed there as chef and waiter until stricken with his last illness.

On Oct. 22, 1936, Mr. Finnegan was united in marriage with Miss Helen Repass of Oakland, and to this happy union two children were born.  He was removed to a sanatorium at San Leandro when illness came.  A short time before his death he was taken to an Oakland hospital for surgical care, where he passed away May 26, 1941.  His mother was at his bedside when the final summons came.  He attained the age of 25 years, 11 months and 21 days.

Besides his father, a baby brother preceded him in death.

The remains were brought here last Saturday, and burial services were held at Immaculate Conception Church at Almas Center Monday forenoon, the Rev. John D. Anibas officiating.  Interment was in East Lawn Cemetery, Alma Center.  Quite a number of friends from here attended the services.  Relatives coming from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Taggart, Mrs. Louis Horn, Ladysmith; Mrs. Edwin Johnson, Delta; Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Henning, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Wilson, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Wilson, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Finnegan, Milwaukee; Rev. and Mrs. C.F. Klein and two children, LaFarge.

Mr. Finnegan is survived by his wife and two children, of Oakland; his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Matti, Humbird; a sister, Mrs. Velma Emerson, Alma Center; a brother, Ralph Finnegan, Milwaukee; a grandfather, Bert Horel, Grand Junction, Colo.; a grandmother, Mrs. Finnegan, Ladysmith; and numerous other relatives.
