Trachsel, Martha (18 OCT 1941)

The Evangelical and Reformed Church was the scene of a pretty fall wedding on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 18, 1941, when Miss Martha Trachsel and Mr. Howard Pierce exchanged marriage vows.

The ceremonies opened with the singing of  "O Promise Me," by the bride’s sister, Mrs. Will Theiler, with organ accompaniment by Mrs. Harrold M. Burt.  Immediately following the song, the groom and his attendants took their places at the center aisle.  As the first strains of the familiar Lohengrin wedding march were played by Mrs. Burt, the wedding procession began, as Miss Genevieve Nibbe, the bridesmaid, and Miss Dixie Theiler, maid of honor, preceded the bride down the aisle.  Together with the groom and attendants, Arthur Marohl and Edwin Pierce, all took their place before the altar.  Rev. Harrold M. Burt read the impressive double ring ceremony which united these two fine young people in holy wedlock.

Following the ceremony, Mrs. Theiler sang the hymn, "Oh Perfect Love," and the Rev. Burt read scripture and spoke briefly to the assembly congregation.  The wedding party left the church to the strains of the Mendelsohn recessional.

The bride was lovely in a long white wedding dress of net and lace, made on princess lines with a very full skirt, and wore a short veil which was caught with a flower tiara.  She carried a large bouquet of fringed white chrysanthemums.  Miss Theiler, maid of honor, niece of the bride, wore a long gown of pale rose, and Miss Nibbe, bridesmaid, also wore a floor length dress of soft blue.  Both young ladies wore rosebuds in their hair.

The groom wore a dark suit as dis his attendants, and all wore carnation boutonnieres.

A wedding supper was served by the bride’s mother to the immediate wedding party, and in the evening a dancing party was held for a large number of friends in the town hall.

Mrs. Pierce is a daughter of Mrs. Rose Trachsel of this village (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.), and is well known in the community, having grown from childhood to young womanhood in our midst.  After completing the courses prescribed by our local high school and the teachers training school at Neillsville, she has been most successful at her profession in our rural county schools.  She will continue teaching in the White School near Withee, where she has taught the past three years.  The groom is one of the fine young men of our community, and is the older son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierce.  He is employed by the American Stores Co., Neillsville.

A host of friends join in wishing the very best for the future happiness and prosperity of Mr. and Mrs. Pierce.
