Gort, Mary (Attacked by wild cat - 21 JAN 1942)

Mrs. Mary Gort, teacher of the first primary department of the Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) schools, was attacked and seriously bitten by a wild cat in the yard at the rear of her home last Wednesday evening.  Mrs. Gort’s right wrist and forearm were painfully lacerated by the animal before she could free herself from its attack.  She reports that it was much larger than an ordinary house cat, but it was too dark to see it distinctly.  Mrs. Gort was taken immediately to the hospital for treatment, and was able to resume her school work with the loss of only one day.  No further trace has been seen of the unruly feline, and where it came from is a mystery.
