Keiner, Henry Christian (28 July 1898 - 20 March 1962)

 

Henry C. Keiner, 63, of Greenwood, died unexpectedly March 20 in St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, where he was admitted the afternoon prior to his death.  He had been ill for the past year.

 

Henry Christian Keiner, son of Christian and Elsie (Romang) Keiner, was born July 28, 1898, at Athens. He was married October 23, 1928, at Winona, Minn., to the former Elisabeth Obernberger Becker.  He was educated in the Athens schools and later was employed in his father’s meat market there.

 

In 1922 the family came to Greenwood, where he was in partnership with his father and brother in the C. Keiner & Sons Market.  From 1928 to 1945 he operated the market alone.  For the last 14 years he owned and operated Keiner’s Resort at Rock Dam.

 

He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ.

 

Surviving are his wife; his mother, Mrs. Christ Keiner; four sisters, Miss Louise Keiner and Mrs. Hugh (Freda) Severson of Greenwood, Mrs. Martha Corbin of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Frederick (Edith) Gotz of Pittsville and a brother, Carl Keiner of Eau Claire.

 

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon from the Zion United Church of Christ. The Rev. Orval Egbert officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.  Pallbearers were: Edward Gregorich, Merril Hare, Fred Behrens, Clarence Gorsegner, William Kuester and Don Warner.

 

Miss Nettie Miller sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "God Will Take Care of You," accompanied by Mrs. Daniel Olson on the organ.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Romang, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Neuenchwander and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Plisch, all of Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Al Obernberger of Racine; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Obernberger of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Olois Obernberger, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Weigel and Mrs. Ardell Klemme of Stratford; John Obernberger of Halder, and daughter, Margaret of Schofield; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brehm of Racine; Mrs. Robert Schader of Milwaukee; Mrs. Alice Prebil of Boyceville; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gorsegner of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Molle of Unity; and many friends from the Willard, Thorp, Neillsville, Marshfield, Eau Claire and Loyal areas.
