Bly, Carolyn Lee (17 AUG 1942)

At a nuptial high mass at the St. Joseph’s Church at Fairview, Monday morning, Aug. 17th, 1942, at 8 o’clock, the Rev. Father Ausman performed the double ring ceremony uniting in marriage Miss Carolyn Lee Bly, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Elmer Le Bly of Bruce, and Mr. George Gerald Matti, son of Mrs. Nellie Matti of Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white phyle taffeta with fitted bodice and sweetheart neckline.  The long puffed sleeves came to a point over the wrist.  The circular skirt terminated in a flowing train.  Her fingertip veil of silk net was held in place by a tiara of seed pearls.  Her shower bouquet was of white and pink rose buds with streamers of white satin ribbon.

Miss Verden Bly, a graduate nurse, of Chicago, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.  Her floor length gown was of aqua pussy willow taffeta with full skirt and puffed sleeved jacket.  She carried an arm bouquet of peach and white gladioli with streamers to match her gown.  She wore a tiara of aqua net with shoulder length veil.

Miss Janice Matti, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid, wearing a gown of aqua Celanese creqe.  Her bouquet was of yellow and white gladioli and her shoulder length veil was similar to that of the maid of honor.

The bridegroom wore a navy blue suit with a white rose boutonniere and was attended by his brother, Richard Matti, and David Bly, brother of the bride.  The attendants and the bride’s father wore teal blue suits with boutonnieres of pink rose buds.

The bride’s mother wore a street length dress of dusty rose crepe with matching hat and white accessories.  The groom’s mother wore a dress of navy blue crepe with black accessories.  They wore corsages of pink rose buds.

The church was beautifully decorated with vases and large baskets of gladioli in pastel shades.  The altar bouquets were of white gladioli.

After the ceremony, a wedding  breakfast was served to the immediate relatives of both families at Neillsville.  Pink and white formed the color scheme for the bridal table, which was centered with a tiered wedding cake topped by a miniature bride and groom.

The bride is a graduate of the Bruce High School, class of 1941, and of Milwaukee Accredited School of Beauty Culture.

The groom is employed in defense work in Milwaukee where the young couple will reside.
