Kneubuehl, Barbara #2 (18 MAR 1890 - 23 MAY 1943)

 

Mrs. Barbara (Greub) Kneubuehl was born March 18, 1890, in Germany, and died at 11:15 p.m., May 23, 1943, at the St. Anthony Hospital, Rockford, Ill., after several months of intense suffering.

 

She was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed faith in Germany.  In 1905 she joined her parents in America, and was united in marriage to Jacob Kneubuehl in 1909.  To this union were born four children, two daughters and two sons.  Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 7, 1919.

 

For the past twenty-four years she and her family made their home with her brother Fred, at Davis, Ill., where they were engaged in cheese making.

 

Those left to mourn are her four children: Mrs. Louise Haroldson, Jacob Kneubuehl, Mrs. Bertha Lohmeier, Davis, Ill., and Arnold Kneubuehl of Alfolkey; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Greub Sr., Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.), two sisters, Mrs. Herman Rieder, Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Lloyd Staffon, Monroe; and four brothers, Fred Greub, Davis, Ill., William Greub of Monroe, John Greub Jr., Humbird, and Carl Greub of Greenwood.

 

Services were held at St. Paul Evangelical Church at Davis at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, and the remains were brought to the Evangelical and Reformed Church in this village for a short service at 4:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. D. Grether of Colby, and Rev. N.J. Dechant of Neillsville.  She was laid to rest in Mentor Cemetery beside her husband.

 

Besides the relatives, those from away attending the funeral were M.B. Baumgartner of Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Staffon of Alma Center, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rieder of Fairchild, Mrs. David Grether, Mr. and Mrs. John Baumgartner of Colby.
