Zank, Emil H. (18 January 1886 - 24 April 1962)

Funeral services for Emil H. Zank, 76, a native of Neillsville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. Evan Dieck, pastor of the Pine Valley American Lutheran Church, in charge.  Burial will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Zank died at his home Tuesday afternoon following a heart attack. He and Mrs. Zank had returned Monday from a visit with a daughter in Normal, Ill., and he had been in downtown Neillsville that morning.

He planned to attend the funeral Wednesday of a brother-in-law in Minneapolis, Minn., and was visiting with relatives from Oshkosh who had stopped at the Zank home on their way to Minneapolis for the funeral. Death came as he sat in an easy chair.

A former chairman of the Town of Pine Valley, and one-time clerk of his school district, Mr. Zank was born January 18, 1886, in Neillsville to August and Albertina (Schwartz) Zank.  He attended Pine Valley schools.

In 1910, he married the former Leona Sukow in Neillsville, and they took over the home farm, which they actively farmed until a heart condition forced him to sell off the cattle in 1951.

Surviving are Mrs. Zank, and three daughters: Elsie, at home; Mrs. Rufus (Clara) Karl of Neillsville; and Mrs. William (Gladys) Schaal of Normal, Ill.  Also surviving are five grandchildren.
