Burton A. Braman, 53, employee of the Truscott Boat and Dry Dock Co. of St. Joseph, and an overseas veteran of World War I, died at Mercy Hospital, Benton Harbor, Saturday night of injuries sustained while at work on Tuesday.  He was sawing a board when the saw slipped, the plank struck Mr. Braman, causing injuries which resulted in his death.

The funeral services were conducted in the Emanuel Mission College Chapel at Berrien Springs on Monday afternoon by Elder E. R. Thiele, followed by burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs.

The deceased was born Nov. 5, 1890, near Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.), a son of Charles and Lenora (Berge) Braman.  He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the medical corps from May 27, 1918 to Aug. 9, 1919, nine months of which time he was overseas.  He came to Berrien Springs last March from Worthington, Ohio, where he was a nurse in Dr. Harding’s Hospital for 21 years.  He has been living at Berrien Springs since March.

He was married to Delia Crain, who survives him, on Dec. 21st, 1919.  Also surviving him are three children, Velma, Lois, and Clare; a brother, Carl of Eau Claire, Wis., and a sister, Mrs. E.W. Schumacher of Minocqua, Wis., both of whom attended his funeral.  He also leaves many other relatives and a host of warm friends who mourn his passing.  The numerous flowers bespeak the loving sympathy held by friends and neighbors.
