Mr. Zerbel was born at Denzer, Sauk Co., Wis., April 5, 1889.  He spent his boyhood in Sauk County, and then moved with his parents to a farm south of Humbird.  On Dec. 8, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Meyer.  Two children were born to this union.  The family resided on a farm south of Humbird for some time, and then operated a restaurant in the village of Humbird, and later in Tomah and Black River Falls.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Hovey of Fennimore, one son, Roger, of Milwaukee; one grandson; and three sisters: Mrs. Marie Joos of Jamestown, N.D., Mrs. Emma Hemmy and Miss Ida of Humbird.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in this village at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 15.  Members of the Odd Fellows Lodge were pallbearers.  The funeral party journeyed to Denzer, where a short funeral service was held.  The services were conducted by Rev. E.W. Marks, pastor of the Evangelical Church of Augusta.  The pallbearers at Denzer were schoolmates of Mr. Zerbel.  The remains were laid to rest in the Denzer Cemetery beside his parents.
