Meinhardt, Otto Carl (24 May 1882 - 9 May 1962)

 

Funeral services for Otto Carl Meinhardt, 79, Greenwood, who died May 9, at the Clark County Hospital in Owen, where he had been a patient for 14 months, were held May 12 from Immanuel United Church. The Rev. Orval Egbert officiated and burial was made in the West Side Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Adolph Wendt, Arthur Schwarze, Henry Vollrath, Ervin Geisler, Arno Miller and Edgar Opdyke.  Miss Carol Wendt was the organist.  The Immanuel Men’s chorus, accompanied by Mrs. Alvin Albert, sang.

 

People from away who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Meinhardt and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Petke, Mrs. Walter Petke, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Meinhardt, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Geisler, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Geisler and daughter, Evelyn, and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wendt, all of Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Clocksene of Groton, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Buchholz and daughter Arlene of Loyal; Clarence High of Neillsville; Owen Haigh of Fairchild; Mrs. Fred Dittman and Margaret of Forestville; Mr. and Mrs. Buford Wilding of Milwaukee; and Caroline Meinhardt of Owen.

 

Mr. Meinhardt was born May 24, 1882, in Manitowoc County.  In 1902 the family moved to Greenwood. He was married here December 27, 1911, to Marie Sundermeyer.

 

The couple farmed in the Town of Warner for nine years and then purchased a farm in the Town of Eaton. They lived there until their retirement in 1953, when they moved into Greenwood.

 

Mr. Meinhardt served as treasurer of the Rock Run School for many years and was a member of the Immanuel United Church.

 

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Elmer of Owen, Clarence and Harry of Greenwood; and six grandchildren.
