Humbird (30 August 1962)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Hanson of Granton and Mrs. Harry Hanson drove to Faribault, Minn., Sunday to attend the silver wedding anniversary of a niece.  While there Mrs. Hanson met an old friend whom she had not seen for 37 years.

 

Mrs. Gordon Gearing and Julie came home Saturday from the Neillsville Hospital.  She is better, but must rest more at home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Will Hein attended the Jackson County Fair at Black River Falls Saturday. Their son, Col. Hein, was one of the judges in the Miss Jackson County contest, and we are glad to report that Miss Cheryl Zimmerman of Humbird was the winner.

 

Company comes in bunches, so Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barr thought, Sunday when Mr. and Mrs. Connie Eckhart, Cheryl and Debbie of Hastings, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Omar Gregory of Fairchild, Mrs. Eva Washburn and Susan of Eau Claire, and Mrs. Harry Jennings, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Snyder of Sparta, Mr. and Mrs. Worthing Barr of Colby and Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Williams, came for a Sunday visit.

 

Of late, some of the high school alumni have been inquiring about the dishes, silverware and table linen belonging to the Alumni association.  The dishes are now at Laffe’s store and those wishing to have a dish for a souvenir may call and get one.  Those from away asking for some please, write to Mrs. (missing information).

 

Mrs. Herman Gerber was a dinner guest Sunday at the Willard Stanley Home.

 

Mrs. Eva Washburn and Susan of Eau Claire visited Saturday and Sunday in the Harry Jennings home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Art Allen of Wisconsin Rapids were guests Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Perry.

 

Art Benson had been a patient in the Neillsville hospital for several days.  His brother, Jim brought him home Monday.  He is not too well yet and must have rest.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Al Stinga spent Saturday evening in the Kally Theiler home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Dignin drove to Eau Claire Wednesday to meet her sister, Mrs. Mattie Riphenburg of Fairfield, Mont., who will be in the home of her brother, Tom Perry, and will help care for Grandma Perry.

 

Mrs. Mattie Smith left Saturday to visit her son, Everett, in Spencer. She will go to Appleton to stay at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Mackness while they are on vacation.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Koplitz and two girls of Greeley, Colo., are visiting his people at Colby and are expected to visit in the Kally Theiler home this week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Polege came home Tuesday after spending nearly two weeks with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Buttke, in Milwaukee.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barr, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Markham, Mrs. Harry Jennings and her guests, Mrs. Eva Washburn and Susan of Eau Claire, spent Saturday evening with Mrs. Harry Hanson.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Max Sloan, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sloan and Mrs. Bernice Sloan of Racine, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Barkley, Eau Claire, Mrs. Lucille Jacobs and Mrs. Gladys Austin of Ladysmith, Mrs. Gil Blom, Price, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Dignin and children of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. William Dignin and family and Mr. and Mrs. Manly Stuve, gathered at the home of Mrs. Laura Dignin Sunday for a picnic dinner and early supper.  Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Seig of Alma Center joined them for supper.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Messbaun and daughter of Monroe called Tuesday on Mrs. Herman Gerber.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Sheffer and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sheffer attended a wedding reception in Sparta Saturday.

 

Dale Austin of Beloit took Mrs. Austin and the children home with him Sunday morning. They spent a week with her mother, Mrs. Laura Dignin.
