Greenwood (13 September 1962)

 

Gilbert Rohde, president of the Wisconsin Farmers Union, spent last week at the National Farmers Union office in Denver, Colo.

 

Mr. and Mrs. William W. Sisson were Sunday guests of friends in Neillsville.

 

Sharon Nielsen fell at play recently and fractured her arm.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schneider of Madison visited last weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Schendel, and with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schneider, Sr., in Greenwood.

 

Herbert Schendel and son, Jon, Jesse Tomlinson and Melnard Hansen visited relatives of Mr. Tomlinson near Ely, Minn., last weekend.

 

A triple birthday celebration was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson in honor of the 86th birthday of her mother, Mrs. Christ Keiner (September 7), and her daughters, Miss Louise Keiner of Greenwood (September 1) and Mrs. Frederick Gotz of Pittsville (September 4).  The honorees were presented with gifts, which included a large decorated birthday cake.

 

Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Gotz of Pittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Bud Albrecht and daughter, Kathy of Arpin; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Leberg and children, Kim and Bruce, of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Miller of Racine; Mrs. Henry Keiner, Mrs. Christ Keiner and Louise, and Carol Severson.

 

Friday evening guests at the Severson home were Lester Schuette, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Molle of Unity and Carl and Arlyn Luchterhand of Loyal. Saturday evening guests were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sheets and children, George, Barbara and Nancy of Boyd.

 

Mrs. Rose Ludwig was elected president at the meeting of the Women’s Guild Thursday afternoon in Zion United Church.  Other officers elected were: Mrs. Arnold Beyer, secretary; and Mrs. Robert Schneider, vice president.  Mrs. Paul Acker was appointed missionary chairman; Miss Louise Keiner, publicity chairman.  Mrs. John Speich gave the assistant treasurer’s report.

 

It was voted to order Christmas cards, and Mrs. Schneider will conduct the sale.

 

The meeting was opened with a poem, "Do it Now," and a prayer by Mrs. Orval Egbert.  Mrs. Lee Corey presided.

 

Mrs. Robert Schneider presented the program, assisted by Mrs. Hugh Severson and Miss Louise Keiner.  Rev. Orval Egbert gave the table prayer.  A lunch was served by Mrs. Gilbert Meyer and Mrs. Ted Abel.
