Langfeldt, Lois  (28 JULY 1956)

Lois Ann Langfeldt of Loyal and Thomas E. Wirkus of Marshfield were married at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 28, in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, with the Rev. Fr. Norbert E. King officiating. St. Anthony’s girl’s choir furnished the music. A breakfast for the wedding party at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Langfeldt, Loyal, a dinner for the bride’s immediate members of the two families at the Casa Loma, and an afternoon reception from 2 to 4:30 at St. Anthony’s Hall followed. Music for the reception was furnished by a three piece ensemble.

The groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Wirkus, of Marshfield, had given a rehearsal dinner at the Colonial Inn for the wedding party and the parents of the bride.

The bride chose a floor length gown of nylon tulle over satin. Alecon lace-edged panels trimmed the short sleeved bodice. To the long torso waistline was attached a bouffant skirt, also trimmed with lace-edged, cross pleated panels of nylon tulle. Her finger-tip veil of tulle was held by a rhinestone and pearl trimmed head piece. She wore short gauntlets and carried a cascade bouquet of white pompoms, red roses, and stephanotis, topped with a white orchid.

The bride’s attendants were dressed in strapless, floor length gowns of light green nylon tulle over taffeta, designed with fitted bodices, full bouffant skirts, and matching headpieces. They carried baskets of flowers, pink and white pompoms, roses, and sweet peas.

Miss Joann Langfeldt, Loyal, was maid of honor and Mrs. Norma Polasek, Wild Rose, was bridesmaid, Bonnie Sue Langfeldt, serving as flower girl, was dressed in a white floor length gown. Her dress was styled as were the bridesmaids’. All three attendants are sisters of the bride.

Mr. Wirkus chose for his attendants, Gordon Daniel, Milwaukee, as best man, Herbert Langfeldt, Loyal, brother of the bride, for groomsman, and Norman Polasek, Wild Tose, brother-in-law of the bride, and Earl Grow, Jr., Shawno, for ushers. Steven Langfeldt, brother of the bride, was ring-bearer.

Mrs. Langfeldt saw her daughter’s wedding in a rose nynette gown with white accessories. The bridegroom’s mother was in blue linen and wore egg-shell accessories. Each wore a corsage of pink and white.

The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School and the groom is a graduate of the Marshfield Senior High. Both are graduates of Central State College, Stevens Point. While in college, both were members of AlphaKappa Rho, honorary music fraternity. She was a member of the Tau Gamma Beta, a social sorority and he of Sigma Phi Epsilon, a social fraternity. He was also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an honorary English fraternity.

When the new Mr. and Mrs. Wirkus left for their wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin, she wore a light blue crystalette dress with duster. Her corsage was the orchid from her bridal bouquet.

Upon their return they will live in Wautoma where both will be members of the Wautoma High School Faculty.

Guests from away were from Marshfield, Edgar, Appleton, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin Rapids, Milwaukee, Wild Rose, Wautoma, Stevens Point and Waupaca.
