Gotter, Donna  (25 AUG 1956)

Following a honeymoon trip to Northern Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Paul W Dekker will make their home in Jackson, Michigan, where Mr. Dekker is a member of the Staff Sanitarium for that city and Mrs. Dekker will be a nurse at Foot Hospital.

Donna Mae Gotter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Celan Gotter, Loyal, and Paul Willard Dekker, son of Rev. and Mrs. Willard Dekker., Parma, Michigan, were married in the Loyal Methodist Church at 2 p.m last Saturday. Rev. Willard Dekker and Rev. Charles Swanson were officiants for the rites.

A net insert with scattered sequins styled the scooped neckline of the bride’s gown with its imported hand-clipped, rose-bud lace fitted bodice over satin, closed down the back with tiny covered buttons, and its full nylon tulle skirt over satin, extending into a sweep train. Her elbow length veil of silk illusion was held by a crown of lace and tulle. She carried a cascade bouquet of Stephanotis with two orchids.

Wearing ballerina-length orchid taffeta gowns with net overskirts and styled with long torso and scooped neckline with net ruffling were Miss Bonnie Wickland of St. Paul, Minn., maid of honor. Mrs. Betty Havinga, Holland, Michigan, sister of the groom, and Miss Carmella Grambsch, Loyal, bridesmaids. Their flowers were hand bouquets of bachelor buttons with orchid star-dust maline.

Hollis G. Dekker, Parma, Michigan, was his brother’s best man and Jack Havinga, Holland, Michigan, brother-in-law of the groom, and Harold Verhulst, Greenwood, cousin of the bride, performed as groomsmen and ushers.

Bobby Grambsch, Loyal was ring-bearer.

A song, "At Dawning" was sung to his bride by the groom as she approached the front of the church with her father. The bride responded with the song, "I Love Thee."

Nearing the close of the service both sang, "We Take Thy Promise Lord," before lighting an anniversary candle, which, if burned on hour on the wedding day and an hour on each anniversary, will burn out on their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Arnold Wickland of Muskego was organist.

The church was decorated with baskets of white and orchid gladioli, banks of green, and lighted candelabrum.

A garden reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride’s mother wore light blue lace with white accessories and Mrs. Dekker Sr., wore navy blue lace with pink accessories. Both wore corsages of white gladiola.

The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School; she took two years at Houghton College, Houghton, N.Y., and graduated from nurses training, Presbyterian Medical Center, New York City. The groom graduated from high school at Corning, N.Y., took four years at Houghton College, Houghton, N.Y., and had Medical Technology training at Rochester, New York.

Out of town guests were from greenwood, Granton, Sheboygan, Madison, Withee, Milwaukee, Muskego, Mason, Marshfield, Racine, St. Paul, Minn., Holland, Michigan, and Parma, Michigan.
