Greenwood (United Church - 1962)

 

The fall meeting of the Wausau Regional Women’s Guild was held at Immanuel United Church in Greenwood.  Approximately 152 delegates and a few visitors attended.  Nine pastors were present.  Dinner was served by the guild members of the host church.

 

The meeting opened with the worship service in charge of the Rev. Carl Serr of Colby.

 

Mrs. Allen Fravert, president of Immanuel guild, gave the welcome, with the response given by Mrs. Herman Reich of Rice Lake.

 

The principal speaker was Mrs. George Dimnug of Eggertsville, N. Y., national treasurer of guilds, who presented the literature.

 

Mrs. G. J. Vercourteren of Sheboygan, Synodical president, presented the theme, "Partners with God."  The workshop in the morning was conducted by Mrs. Ray Filitz of Neillsville, Mrs. M. Riedesel of Wausau and the Rev. Vernon Golde of Schofield.

 

The afternoon session was opened with a prayer by the Rev. David Gumm of St. Germaine.

 

Mrs. Lloyd Carlson of Dorchester gave a report of the quadrennial meeting in Cleveland, O.

 

Workshop leaders in the afternoon were Mrs. Edwin Scholze of Humbird, Mrs. Henry Scheel of Rothschild and Mrs. Clara Liebzeit of Greenwood.  Mrs. Richard Schneider of Neillsville talked on the Winnebago Children’s home in Neillsville.

 

The table prayer and benediction were given by the Rev. Orval Egbert of the host church.

 

Mrs. Otto Woehlert of Wausau, president of the Wausau regional Women’s guild, gave the closing remarks.


Other officers are: Mrs. Lloyd Carlson of Dorchester, first vice president; Mrs. Robert O’Neil, Jr., of Wausau, second vice president; Mrs. Ervin Pries of Medford, secretary; Mrs. William Kamke of Merrill, treasurer; and the Rev. W. H. Ortwein of Wausau, pastoral advisor.

 

Mrs. Carlson of Dorchester, Mrs. Scholze of Humbird and Mrs. Davis of Colby, were appointed on the nominating committee.

 

Mrs. Roy Nelson of Wisconsin Rapids and Mrs. Ben Stucki of Neillsville are on the committee to prepare the program for the retreat planned for next spring at Moon Beach camp.
