THORP -- Stanley E. Lawcewicz, 84, of Stanley died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls.


Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thorp Funeral Home in Thorp, with a 6 p.m. rosary. Visitation also will be Friday at the church, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.


Stanley Edward Lawcewicz was born Nov. 15, 1926, in the town of Withee, rural Thorp, to Stanley A. and Stella (Konczak) Lawcewicz. He was united in marriage to Hermina Hainzlsperger on April 22, 1952, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Stanley farmed his entire life in the town of Thorp and the town of Taft until retiring in 1984.


He is survived by his wife, Hermina, of Stanley; six children, Stanley D. "Stash" (Jody) Lawcewicz of Thorp, Janet (Morey) Schirmacher of Chippewa Falls, Marlene (Earl) Konechney of Eau Claire, Robert (Ann) Lawcewicz of Thorp, David (Linda) Lawcewicz of Thorp and Rich (Kathy) Lawcewicz of Lublin; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Minnie Gaca and Irene (John) Burson, both of Manistee, Mich.
