Lucas, William Clarence (1 January 1915 - 7 November 1962)

 

William Clarence Lucas, 47, Town of Hendren chairman and a lifelong resident of Willard, died November 7, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, where he had been a patient since October 31.

 

He is the son of John and Margaret (Dergance) Lucas, born on January 1, 1915, in Willard and received his education there.  He was married to Ioya Salo, September 9, 1939, in Greenwood. The couple operated a farm two miles north of Willard.  Mr. Lucas, who was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, was chairman of the Town of Hendren and for many years served as town constable.

 

Surviving are: his wife; a son, William, Jr., serving in the air force at Oscoda, Mich.; four sisters, Mrs. George (Frances) Simmers of Chicago; Mrs. Margaret Stefanic of Hinsdale, Ill.; Mrs. James (Josephine) Eddy of Columbus, O.; and Mrs. Chester (Mary) Kohl of Northbrook, Ill.

 

Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning from Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. The Rev. Mirko Sylvester officiated.  Burial was made in the Holy Family Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Leo Gregorich, William Petkovsek, Albert Bukovec, Frank Lamoric, John Stancar and John Biddle.

 

People from away who attended the funeral were: William Lucas, Jr., Wurthsmith AFB at Oscoda, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Kohl of Northbrook, Ill.; Mrs. James Eddy of Columbus, O.; Mrs. Margaret Stefanic of Hinsdale, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. George Simmers of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dutkiewicz of Stickney, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Dergance of Hillside, Ill.; Alvin Dergance and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Simmers of Chicago; Vernon Dergance of Duluth, Minn.; Arvo Salo of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schipits, Jr., of Palos Heights, Ill.; Mrs. Walter Jensen, Jr., of Grosse Point Park, Mich.; and many friends from Colby, Neillsville, Greenwood, Withee and Longwood.
