Elmhorst, Clara L. (6 July 1885 - 25 November 1962)

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday for a former Granton resident, Mrs. Clara L. Elmhorst, 77, of Kankakee, Ill., who died Sunday in Neillsville.  The Rev. L. E. Schreiber officiated at services from the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton.  Burial was made in the church cemetery.

 

Mrs. Elmhorst, the former Clara Dahling, was born July 6, 1885, in Kankakee, Ill., and was married there to the late Dietrich Elmhorst on February 22, 1904. They came to Clark County in 1917 and located on a farm in the Town of York., where they resided until the death of Mr. Elmhorst in 1931.  She moved to Chicago in 1941 and later to Kankakee, Ill.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Aurelia) Gerber of Neillsville and Mrs. Ray (Louise) Tyler of Marshfield; three sons, Elmer of Neillsville, Arnold of Lansing, Ill., and Melvin of Chicago, Ill.  Other survivors include 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Nowack of Granton, Mrs. Sophia Moore of Escondido, Cal., and Mrs. Elsie Pool of Chicago, Ill.; and two brothers, Walter Dahling of Riverside, Ill., and Albert Dahling of Chicago, Ill.

Funeral services were held November 28, from the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton for Mrs. Clara L. Elmhorst who died November 25 in Neillsville.  The Rev. L. L. Schreiber officiated. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Clarence, Walter, Frederick and Robert Elmhorst, and Ray and Clarence Nowack.

 

Out of town people attending the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gerber, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Elmhorst, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Elmhorst, of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tyler, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tyler, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Elmhorst, Mrs. Milo Frankland, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Seehafer, all of Marshfield; Arnold Elmhorst, Lansing, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Elmhorst and Mrs. Elsie Pool of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Gerber, Madison; Harland Gerber, Racine; Mrs. Amanda Witheft and Mrs. Harold Capella of Herscher, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elmhorst of Buckingham, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. George Elliot, Elmhurst, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Byrl Rose of Owen; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Howe of Tomahawk.
