Zerbel, Ida A. #2 (20 NOV 1883 - 29 JUL 1947)

Ida Amelia Zerbel was born in Honey Creek, Sauk County, Wis., on Nov. 20, 1883, the youngest daughter of August and Caroline (Zick) Zerbel.

At the age of seventeen years, she moved with her parents and located on a farm three miles southwest of Humbird.  About ten years later they located on a farm one and one-half miles southwest of Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.)  In 1917 she and her parents moved once again, this time into the village of Humbird, where she made her home until she met with a fatal accident on Teusday morning, July 29, 1947.  She died at the age of 63 years, 8 months and 9 days.

For several years she was employed as a clerk in the different stores in the village, and later, and up to the time of her death, she was engaged in operating a restaurant, first known as the "Green Circle Inn," and later as "Ida’s Coffee Shop."

Miss Zerbel was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Church, and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Royal Neighbors Camp in this village, and was active in all bodies.

Her parents and an only brother, Robert J., preceded her in death.  She leaves to sisters, Mrs. Mary Joos of Jamestown, N.D., and Mrs. Emma Hemmy of Humbird, together with many relatives and friends.

The text used by the Rev. Geo. W. Hohmann for the sermon at the funeral services at St. John’s Church held Friday forenoon, was from I Samuel 2:3, "There is but a step between me and death."  Mrs. Walter Smith and Mrs. Will Theiler sang "Going Down the Valley," and "Sometime We’ll Understand," with Mrs. Harold Losey accompanist.  The Rev. Hohmann accompanied the funeral party to Denzer, where a service wwas held at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon in the Evangelical Church, of which congregation Miss Zerbel had long been a member.  Two friends sang "Going Down the Valley" and "Face to Face."  Burial was beside her parents and brother in the Denzer Cemetery.  The great mass of beautiful flowers expressed the sympathy of all friends.
